ASCO is supported by its affiliate organization, Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation, which funds groundbreaking research and programs that make a tangible difference in the lives of people with cancer.

Our Strategic Plan

ASCO’s strategic plan outlines the Society’s approach to leading the delivery of information and diverse expertise needed by the global oncology community to reduce the burden of cancer. The plan also defines goals that will mark progress towards this outcome.

Membership

The American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Association for Clinical Oncology’s diverse network of nearly 50,000 oncology professionals recognizes our dedication to providing the highest-quality resources in education, policy, the pioneering of clinical research, and above all, advancing the care for patients with cancer. We are unique in that our organization encompasses all oncology subspecialties, allowing our members to grow from the professional and personal expertise of their colleagues worldwide and across disciplines. International members make up approximately one-third of our total membership and represent more than 150 countries. We offer a variety of membership categories and benefits designed to fit your career stage and specific needs.

Organization

ASCO is governed by a Board of 20 members, including a President-Elect, President, Chair of the Board (seat to be filled starting in 2019), Treasurer, Past President, and 14 Directors. The ASCO Chief Executive Officer and the Chair of Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation Board of Directors have non-voting seats on the ASCO Board.

The Society conducts the majority of its business through various volunteer groups comprised of members who volunteer their time and effort to Society programs. Leaders of patient advocacy groups are often active in our volunteer groups as well. There are currently 20 standing committees (plus numerous editorial boards, task forces, panels, and working groups) that are managed and supported by ASCO’s full-time staff. ASCO is a charitable, educational, and scientific organization classified under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
