(ASCO) and its affiliates, such as text, graphics, logos, images, and other content, is copyrighted and proprietary to ASCO and may not be reproduced in whole or in part by persons, organizations, or corporations other than ASCO and its affiliates, without prior written permission. All rights are reserved. Use of ASCO’s website and the content thereof is subject to our Terms of Use.

Retention of certain intellectual property rights by authors, contributors, presenters, and other third parties vary based on the specific product or service involved.

Requesting Permission to use ASCO Content

To seek permission to use or copy selected portions of ASCO’s copyrighted materials from its website or printed materials, videos, audio materials, mobile apps, and other media, you must first submit a detailed request to us in writing.  ASCO uses Copyright Clearance Center’s Rightslink program to administer permissions based licensing for the majority of our content. ASCO will not refuse any reasonable request for permission to reproduce any material published in ASCO publications.

Trademarks

In a world filled with hundreds of conferences and publications from myriad sources, researchers, practitioners, and patients all have come to know and rely on ASCO’s meetings, publications, and famous marks (including ASCO®, American Society of Clinical Oncology®, JCO®, JCO GO®, Journal of Clinical Oncology®, JCO Global Oncology®, Cancer.Net™, Conquer Cancer®, CancerLinQ®, CENTRA®, QOPI® and many others (the “ASCO® Marks”) to identify oncology-related information and training of the highest quality and reliability in a field of endeavor where lives are at stake. In light of this trust and goodwill, ASCO and those seeking information now rely on the ASCO® Marks to cut through the clutter and further ASCO’s mission of making sure that researchers, physicians, and patients receive the highest quality information in the most effective manner. Furthermore, the ASCO® Marks represent significant assets of ASCO with real economic value, and the licensing of the same is an important driver of resources for ASCO’s continuation of its important non-profit work.

Unauthorized use of the ASCO Marks is prohibited. Those seeking to use the ASCO Marks should first contact our Permissions team with details of their request. Permission may be granted or withheld at ASCO’s sole discretion.  Permission will not be granted to use any ASCO Marks to endorse (implied or otherwise) any product, company, or service. Licensed use of the ASCO Marks is subject to compliance with ASCO branding guidelines and Licensing Standards, as they may be revised from time to time.

Copyright and Trademark Violations

ASCO is committed to respecting others’ intellectual property rights, and we ask our users to do the same. It is ASCO’s policy to terminate the user accounts of repeat infringers. If you believe that your work has been copied in a way that constitutes copyright infringement on an ASCO website or any of our apps, please send a written notice of claimed copyright infringement. In accordance with the Online Copyright Infringement Liability Limitation Act of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512) ("DMCA"), the written notice (the "DMCA Notice") must be sent to ASCO’s designated agent to receive DMCA Notices:

  • An electronic or physical signature of the person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the copyright interest.
  • A description of the copyrighted work that you claim has been infringed.
  • A description of where the material that you claim is infringing is located on the website or app, including but not limited to the URL.
  • Your address, telephone number, and email address.
  • A statement by you that you have a good-faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  • A statement by you, made under penalty of perjury, that the above information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the copyright owner’s behalf.

Upon receipt of the above information, ASCO will promptly investigate and take appropriate action, then notify you of that action at the contact address you provide. We may need to contact you for more information before we take action.

If you fail to comply with all of the requirements of Section 512(c)(3) of the DMCA, your DMCA Notice may not be effective.

Please be aware that if you knowingly materially misrepresent that material or activity on the website is infringing your copyright, you may be held liable for damages (including costs and attorneys' fees) under Section 512(f) of the DMCA.
