ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Research covering cancer treatment delays due to insurance type, and improvements in cancer care and quality of life for low-income and minority patients seen with integrated community-based interventions will be highlighted in the 2021 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Quality Care Symposium’s official Press Program. Studies featured in the Press Program are among the more than 300 abstracts that will be presented at the Symposium.

The 2021 ASCO Quality Care Symposium, taking place September 24-25 in Boston, MA and online, will bring together oncology professionals from around the globe for presentations and discussions surrounding strategies to help reduce disparities and improve the quality of care for every patient, everywhere.

Abstracts will be publicly released on ASCO’s Meeting Library on Monday, September 20, at 5:00 p.m. ET and the embargo will lift at that time. The following abstracts will be promoted with press releases as a part of ASCO’s Press Program:

  • Findings on improved involvement of low-income and minority patients in their own cancer care and health-related quality of life, along with reduced use of acute care seen with the integration of community-based interventions (Abstract 1)
  • A study examining the association between insurance plan, prior authorization, and time to receipt of oral anticancer drugs and related treatment delays (Abstract 6)
