Alexandria, Va. —In a new position statement, the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) warns that some of the practices of pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) companies use could hinder patient access to timely, high-quality cancer care. ASCO describes a range of PBM practices that, while they may be intended to help control costs in cancer care, might compromise physicians’ ability to provide the right treatment at the right time for people with cancer.

The accreditations were given today at the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2017 Congress in Madrid, Spain.

(ASCO®) announced that Instituto de Oncologia do Vale (IOV) has become the first practice in Brazil to receive Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®) certification through QOPI Certification Program, LLC (QCP). IOV is the second international practice to achieve this milestone in demonstrating the quality of care it provides to oncology patients.
