ASCO Global Courses are supported by Conquer Cancer Mission Endowment

ASCO International collaborates with organizations around the world to deliver education and training to health care workers caring for patients with cancer. Activities are primarily focused on improving care in low-and-middle-resource countries and address the following areas of educational need:

  • Palliative care: International Palliative Care Courses focus on improving communication of prognosis with patients and families; managing pain and symptoms for patients with advanced disease; and other topics.

  • Clinical research: International Clinical Research Courses increase understanding of clinical trial methodologies, how to implement research ideas, how to evaluate literature, and how young investigators can get involved with research.

  • Team-based care: Multidisciplinary Cancer Management Courses demonstrate how multidisciplinary decision-making takes place in the management of common cancer types through local case presentations and mock tumor board discussions. Additional 1-day Multidisciplinary Care Team Development program focusing on developing tumor boards available.

  • Cancer awareness: Cancer Control in Primary Care Courses equip primary care physicians with the knowledge they need to recognize signs and symptoms of patients who may have cancer, refer patients to specialists for care, and communicate with patients about their risks for developing cancer.

  • Professional development: Train the Trainer sessions are organized before select courses to enhance presentation and facilitation skills and other skills as requested.

Each program is designed in collaboration with a host organization outside of the United States. International and local experts come together to tailor a program to meet the needs of the learners. Programs include interactive case presentations, breakout sessions, and discussions, and are delivered both in-person and online.
