Apply for ASCO Project to Improve Vaccination Rates Among Adults with Cancer

Funding Available for Participants During Five-year Program
March 15, 2022

UPDATE: The application deadline has been extended to Friday, May 13, 2022.

The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) is currently accepting applications for its project to improve rates of recommended vaccinations for adults with cancer. The project is part of a five-year cooperative agreement between the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Council of Medical Specialty Societies (CMSS). ASCO will select seven participants for the project in the Spring of 2022.

Eligible participants include healthcare systems, hospitals, and private practices that managed at least 10,000 active hematology and oncology patients last year, or that meet one or more high-priority criteria in the treatment of underserved populations. Additional requirements are available in the Health System Information Sheet.

Participating health systems will receive up to $250,000 in initial funding in 2022, and up to $750,000 over the five-year project, pending federal funding in the out-years. Project activities will involve performance measurement, performance improvement, education, participation in ASCO’s Quality Training Program (QTP), and other activities. ASCO will provide participants with clinical guidance, assist in the development of performance measures, develop educational resources for providers and patients, and disseminate best practices identified during the project.

Interested health systems must apply by April 29, 2022. Applications must include a letter of support from a senior officer of the health system.
