Current Funded Quality Training Opportunities

ASCO is dedicated to providing the highest-quality care to all patients with cancer. To help support this mission, the Society works to secure funding opportunities to support quality improvement activities at practices through participation in its various quality initiatives.

Specialty Societies Advancing Adult Immunization Rate (SSAAI) Project

The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) has received funding under a five-year cooperative agreement between the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Council of Medical Specialty Societies (CMSS) for a project to improve rates of recommended vaccinations for adults with cancer and blood disorders. ASCO is working with eight health systems in continuous quality improvement, performance measurement, education, and other activities. 

Susan G. Komen® Funding for Participation in Quality Programs at Urban Practices With High Proportions of African American Patients With Breast Cancer

ASCO has received funding from Susan G. Komen® for seven practices with high proportions of African American patients with breast cancer to participate in ASCO’s Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®), and Quality Training Program (QTP) for a four-year period, concluding in 2023.

Stavros Niarchos Foundation Grant for Participation in Quality Programs at Rural or Urban Practices

ASCO has received funding from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation for nine practices to participate in ASCO’s Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®) and Quality Training Program (QTP) offerings for a four-year period, concluding in 2023. The grant, “Improving the Delivery of Cancer Care in Medically Underserved Communities,” aims to improve the ability of practices in medically underserved communities to engage in quality improvement. To achieve this goal, each participating practice will engage in an individualized, structured quality improvement program.
