The Alliance for Childhood Cancer is holding its 14th annual Action Days Feb.13-14, 2024, in Washington.
ASCO is a proud member of the Alliance, a cohort of national patient advocacy groups, professional medical organizations, and scientific organizations dedicated to advancing research and policies to prevent cancer. During this year's Action Days, more than 200 advocates representing 34 states are expected to take part in 150 meetings on Capitol Hill.
They will urge lawmakers to:
- Prioritize federal funding for pediatric cancer research by allocating $30 million for the Childhood Cancer STAR Act, $50 million for the Childhood Cancer Data Initiative, and increasing funding to the National Institutes of Health and the National Cancer Institute.
- Support the Accelerating Kids' Access to Care Act (HR 4758/S 2372), which reduces regulatory burdens to allow children with complex medical needs greater access to out-of-state providers who can best meet their needs.
- Support the Pediatric Cancer Drug Supply Act (HR 6963), which creates a pilot program that directs HHS to establish and maintain a 6-month reserve of essential childhood cancer chemotherapy drugs.
