On February 6, a series of earthquakes struck Turkey and Syria, killing and injuring tens of thousands of people and devastating the region. In response, ASCO is in contact with its members and organizations in Turkey and Syria to understand and support efforts to restore care for patients with cancer.

Actions you can take:

  1. Read ASCO’s statement: ASCO issued a statement expressing regret for the loss of life and its solidarity with the Turkish and Syrian oncology communities, and encouraging its members to support efforts to respond.
  2. Add your voice: ASCO welcomes information from members and colleagues in the affected region about the disaster, its impact on cancer care, and how ASCO might assist. Messages can be sent to an email account monitored by ASCO staff.
  3. Support the response: ASCO urges our members and the broader cancer community to lend their support and expertise to organizations working on the ground to provide relief. These include disaster response organizations like the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and Doctors Without Borders, among many others.
