Given the growing survivorship population, ASCO developed a core curriculum for survivorship education for physicians, allied health professionals, training programs, and policymaking organizations which provides competencies for the following areas:
- surveillance for recurrence and second malignancies
- long-term and late effects
- health promotion and prevention
- psychosocial well-being,
- special populations including adolescents and young adults and older adults
- caregivers
- communication and care coordination
